If you’ve got a stocked pantry and food in your fridge, it’s not likely you know what it feels like to go to bed hungry. Or the worry that comes from not knowing where your family’s next meal will come from.
For over 25 years, Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland has worked to eliminate those struggles for at-risk individuals in our community. The nonprofit is dedicated to ending hunger and building a healthier community. And their impact is profound: Hunger Network is Cuyahoga County’s largest emergency food provider, serving 36,000 people monthly. But they can’t do it alone.
This weekend, you can help Hunger Network feed our community by supporting the
WALK FOR HUNGER & 5K RUN.

Learn more about Hunger Network
More than 40 years ago, the Interchurch Council of Greater Cleveland created the Hunger Taskforce in response to cuts in public welfare programs and the national recession. The two-person staff addressed the increasing need for emergency food for children in Cuyahoga County.
In 1995, the Hunger Taskforce became an independent organization renamed Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland. Headquartered in Downtown Cleveland, the organization has expanded to serve families, men, women, children, and the elderly. Their vital programs include:
- Hunger Centers: 70+ locations throughout Cuyahoga County provide emergency food supplies and hot meals to neighbors who need them most – $25 feeds 100 people.
- Food Rescue: With over 50 donors and 100 nonprofit recipients, the innovative program bridges the gap between hunger and food waste and brings food access closer to those who need it.
- Nutrition Programs: Free, accessible content guided by a registered dietitian—these programs educate individuals about budget-friendly, healthy eating and food preparation as essential to overall wellness.
- Healthcare Services: Partnering with Medworks and Case Western Reserve University’s Physician Assistant program, Hunger Network provides essential health screenings and connections to medical providers for those in need, improving community health.
